51st Annual Folsom Pro Rodeo
As the annual summer celebration that is Independence Day approaches, make your plans to attend the exciting Folsom Pro Rodeo! The show will take place 3 different nights from July 1 until July 3. There will be entertainment for everyone! Motocross racer Jesse Jolson will perform fantastic jumps, spins, and flips before the show each night. There will also be a silver dollar dig for children. After the rodeo will be fireworks each night and a fun party in Mike’s Golden Spike Saloon. This rodeo-themed bar is sure to be a giant dance party due in part to the lively Brodie Stewart Band that will provide foot-stomping energy every night. The saloon is also the only venue in the rodeo that offers a variety of mixed drinks.
The rodeo features all traditional rodeo events, including bull riding, bronc riding, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, team roping, tie-down roping, barrel racing, and more. There will also be a nightly mutton busting, a crowd-favorite in which junior cowboys and cowgirls can strut their stuff. The fireworks show, set to music and full of special effects, will send the audience home with a bang at the end of each night.
In anticipation of the rodeo, there will be a Bulls and Brews Fun Run on Thursday, June 30th at 6pm. The run features teams of five people who wear crazy western costumes and gallop for first place. There will also be a Western Cattle Drive on June 30th at 6pm. The cattle drive is free and is one of the last cattle drives in the state. Cowboys, dignitaries, long-horn steers, and the Wells Fargo State Coach will jog and ride down Sutter Street in the historic town of Folsom. This is a great event and will be a lot of fun to watch as some of these long-horns really are insanely long!
