Giddyup to the Folsom Pro Rodeo!
Back in the day, the West was considered wild and cowboys were a significant figure seen in California. Today, when you think of California, your mind does not automatically take you to western times.Take a trip back to the wild west this Summer with an old fashioned rodeo! If you will be in one of the hotels around Folsom CA this July, join the locals for a wild time at the Folsom Pro Rodeo.
The Folsom Pro Rodeo will kick off its start with the Sutter Street Cattle Drive one day before the rodeo on July 3, 2013 at 6pm. The Cattle Drive is a family friendly event where spectators will witness the cattle stroll down Sutter Street to their final destination at the Dan Russell Rodeo Arena. People line the streets to get a glimpse of one of the last remaining cattle drives in Northern California. Once the cattle have been moved, stick around to enjoy some entertainment and music.
The Folsom Pro Rodeo will be a 3 day event taking place July 4-6, 2013. Gates open at 6pm to give everyone a chance to mingle and find their seats. The rodeo starts at 7pm sharp and begins with the roping events. See riders loop a rope around animals all while riding a horse. After the roping events are the riding events. There will be bulls, broncs, mutton busting, and of course plenty of cowboys! After the fun rodeo events, it’s time for the patriotic celebrations to begin! The American flag will arrive by parachute at 8:30pm and there will be a firework display at 9:30pm. After the festivities, head over to Mike’s Golden Spike Saloon for live music and dancing.
